His commitment to prosecuting individuals who would abuse children is particularly commendable, but no one could say he is “soft” on crime. He has taken a strong approach to anyone who brings illicit drugs into our neighborhoods and schools. Missaukee County is a safer county because of this. As a defense attorney for 15 years, I had worked on the opposite sides of many prosecutors. Among them, David DenHouten stood out as being ‘tough but fair.” His door was always open, and he was always willing to listen to all the arguments in a case, but he would make the decisions he believed were best for the community.
More recently, as the assistant prosecutor working under him for the past year, I have been able to witness firsthand how dedicated and hard-working he is. He consistently and vigorously fights to protect the people of Missaukee County no matter who or what may stand in his way.
